SheVaCon…

Wow, what a weekend, we went to the Fantasy/Sci-Fi Convention call SheVaCon this past weekend and had a great time! We met a bunch of cool people (some of which will show up on this page later as models!) learned some cool stuff and had lots of fun!

I have posted images up in galleries at www.michaelsinkphotography.com/shevacon if you were at the con and wish to use any of these images let me know and credit me underneath as Michael Sink Photography. We set up a backdrop and lights for the costume section of the website, these are all of the costume contest entries for saturday night. We hope to have space available for a longer time next year so that we can photograph some of the cosplay characters that didn’t enter the contest.

Our hats go off to the 501st Legion (Imperial Troopers), all of the costumed guests (a lot of work went into these costumes!), Gina and Troy, SPAT, Andy, Dan, and everyone else we’ve forgotten. Thanks for having us there, and we can’t wait ’till next year.

And a few images…

Good grief! Where have I been?

Well, nowhere really. Still working on the website, still playing with product photography (take a look at my work on Diane Stavola’s site here.) I will have a section devoted to things like this on the main site when I finally update it. In the meantime, here are a couple I have been playing with…

We will be at SheVaCon next weekend taking pictures of the con-goers and masqueraders, take a look at what they do here. And later next month shooting a wall portrait for an anniversary…

But, I have a confession to make…

…I,

…have developed an addiction, SHHHHH!!!! It’s terrible, it’s costing me money, it’s all I can think about sometimes, it makes me dirty, I want to introduce my friends to it so they can share in my high…

…it’s vinyl! No, not clothing, or flooring, but music pressed into Poly-Vinyl-Chloride, you know, albums, records, VINYL!

…Digging through crates of dusty used records looking for something from the past. Comparing multiple copies side by side to find the most pristine copy, comparing jackets to get the least worn album art, and then laying out a paltry $2 or $5 for a whole album! And then the joy of spinning it for the first time and enjoying the full-bodied, rich, un-digitized sound that vinyl offers, wow! What a treat…

…Now that I’ve given you my confession, let me know what you think.
